Changing New York

I came across this collection of old and new New York and it%26#39;s fun to see what parts of the city looked like back way back in the time when my elderly mother in law lived in the city. Enjoy...

Changing New York

Judy, thanks for reminding us about Berenice Abbott%26#39;s and Douglas Levere%26#39;s great photos. There was a thread on this very subject some time ago: tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g60763-i5-k276874-鈥?/a> which you might like to check out as it has a link to many more of Berenice Abbotts%26#39; originals.

The photo of the Garibaldi Memorial reminded me that this year is the bicentenary of his birth. Does anyone know if there are any celebrations planned on Staten Island or anywhere else for that matter?

Changing New York

Berenice Abbott%26#39;s ';New York Changing'; was also published under the title ';New York in the Thirties'; - I was able to buy a copy of it from Amazon marketplace for a couple of pounds - unfortunately it doesn%26#39;t have Douglas Levere%26#39;s photos for comparative purposes, but it%26#39;s still a great bargain for a collection of amzing photos!

Some observations of the Changing New York...but more within the last 20 years...
