On or Off Broadway musical.

We were notified our tickets to see Pirate Queen had been refunded. Ticketmaster did not say why the tickets were refunded, I assume the play was cancelled. Groups such as Ticketmaster, Expedia and Orbitz do a fine job until there is some difficulty and of course it is almost impossible to talk to a human being when things don%26#39;t go right.

Have found tickets for Wicked at about $91 each. Does anyone know of a better way to purchase tickets? Not to terribly anxious to stand in line at Tickts to gamble on seats.

Any other musical we should consider? Have seen Phantom, Mamma Mia and Les Miz. Couldn%26#39;t find tickets for Jersey Boys, that might be a tough one. Help

swift7,

Your question is different from what I expected after reading your header....

Pirate Queen has closed, I%26#39;m told.

I don%26#39;t know where your seats are, but---yeah---I%26#39;d take those $91 tickets for Wicked.

I%26#39;ve never purchased tickets at the TKTS booth, but they say Wicked, being one of the most popular shows, is almost never offered there.

Wicked%26#39;s a great show---and I recommend Jersey Boys even if you have to buy standing room!

Thanks TGUY, went ahead and booked the 91 dollar tickets for Wicked. Hopefully will receive confirmation by Monday. Am quite pessimistic about the entire operation. So much easier to get tickets at West End in London. Usually get tickets there day of performance. Batting about 7 to one. Got smoked on one we wanted to see but it was gala opening night or some such mess. Love the Broadway and West End experience. Taking our 22 year old grandson with us to NYC, we can%26#39;t wait.

Again thank you!

Generally it%26#39;s much easier to get tickets for West End shows, but when the show you want to see is a popular hit, it%26#39;s the same story there. What I%26#39;m trying to say is that you can get tickets to many Broadway shows the same day, but they won%26#39;t be the big shows. Doesn%26#39;t mean they%26#39;re not just as good or better. You can get same-day half-price tickets to see the fabulous Christine Ebersole in her Tony-winning star performance in Grey Gardens, for example. In my opinion, that%26#39;s a much better show than, say, Wicked.

Pirate Queen was trashed by critics and audiences alike! I think it was laughed off Broadway.

Yes, see the fabulous Christine Ebersole and Mary Louise Wilson in Grey Gardens before they close, if you can!

It tickles me that Bettina doesn%26#39;t like Wicked....

Thanks Bettina and TGuy.

We also have two additional nights free in Manhattan and will buy tickets to see Christine Ebersole in Grey Gardens.

Question, a few years back we went to see ';We Will Rock You'; at West End, don%26#39;t remember the theatre. I though it was delightful, was it tried on Broadway? Had hoped grandson could have seen that, he is very much attuned to Queen and other oldies.

We Will Rock You has not come to Broadway yet, the only place it has played in America was in Vegas and the critics were not kind to it. It didn%26#39;t last very long, just never found an audience. There is currently a sit down planned for Toronto but I don%26#39;t know for when off the top of my head, but I do know it is happening soon, the goal from there is to tour the show across America. There are currently no announced plans for the show to play Broadway, but I believe that%26#39;s the hope is for the tour to lead to a stint on Broadway.

While I have the attention of such a well informed crowd could I ask your indulgence for one further question? Several years ago, perhaps as many as ten or more, we saw Les Miz in Fort Worth. It was an outstanding presentation. Could it have possibly starred Lea Salonga and other outstanding members from the original Broadway production?

It was such a delight

I seriously doubt that Lea Salonga toured with Les Miz after playing Broadway. But I%26#39;m sure she%26#39;s got her own web site which would list all her credits.

FYI, Lean Salonga is back in Les Misereable, this time playing Fantine (time passes and we all get older!). I saw it last week for the second time. This version is shorter by 45 min than the original production, and it%26#39;s on a smaller stage, and for my money, it%26#39;s better (I%26#39;m not usually a fan of this type of show -- both times I went as a family obligation -- but I really enjoyed it last week). I though it was much tighter and better staged, though I must say that when I saw the original, it was near the end of its run, no longer had the original cast and had probably gotten a bit tired. Discounts are available at www.broadwaybox.com and we got excellent orchestra seats for $50.

Oh, I forgot to mention the most important thing -- DO NOT GO TO LEA SALONGA%26#39;S WEB SITE -- it is infected with viruses. I visited it right after the show and immediately got a warning from my anti-virus software.
