hunting and fishing stores

Hi I would like to know of the closest hunting and fishing stores to central park in NYC

hunting and fishing stores

My boss, who is one of the most enthusiastic hunters and fishermen you will ever meet in your life, tells me that there are no good hunting stores in Manhattan, although there are one or two decent fishing stores. The best hunting store in the city, according to him (and trust me, he would know) is in Brooklyn: D.F. Brothers Sports Center at 7919 New Utrecht Avenue (between 79th and 80th Streets). This is easy enough to reach by subway from Manhattan -- just take the D train to 79th Street in Brooklyn, and walk down the block.

Once Abercrombie %26amp; Fitch changed (you old-timers will remember when A%26amp;F was a GOOD store), there was no longer a decent place for hunting/fishing stuff. For the clothing related, perhaps ORVIS. Even Paragon used to have the clothing-related items, but they%26#39;ve changed too.

There%26#39;s camping stuff at Eastern Mountain Sports and at Paragon.

Not much on the way of hunting or fishing stores in NYC. If you like fine firearms go to the Berreta Gallery on Madison and the Holland %26amp; Holland Gallery on 40th. Nothing like holding a $250,000 double rifle.

If you want some good hunting and fishing stores come down to south Texas. We got them all--Cabelas, Bass Pro Shop, Gander Mountain and many others.

As noted on a separate thread (you may want to do a searc for the word ';Cabela%26#39;s';), Cabela%26#39;s is planning on opening a store in suburban New Jersey -- but at present the closest Cabela%26#39;s (and it is quite a store, and for a hunter worth the trip) is two hours away from NYC, straight out Interstate 78 in Hamburg, PA.

Just to let you know, I emailed the cabelas customer services so the new store in NJ will be opening in spring 2008

There was that fishing store in the Chelsea Hotel that moved. I know someone here posted the new address about a month or 2 ago.

I think it was called Capitol Fishing? formerly on West 23rd Street...

Paragon does have some fishing equipment - probably more as it gets warmer

This is a little late, but just saw your post.

For fishing tackle, try Harlee Rod in Jersey City:

Cabela%26#39;s is building a new store in East Hartford, CT at Rentschler Field. From their website ';Cabela%26#39;s anticipates the store will be open by fall of 2007';

I%26#39;ve been by the site and they have almost completed this outlet.

Probably not as convenient to get to as their other outlets, they are billed as ';The World%26#39;s Foremost Outfitter';.

Good Luck in your quest.

Does anyone else find this post a little fishy?

No pun intended.

';Hunting and Fishing Stores'; close to Central Park.

Hmm...I can just picture someone walking around the Park with a crossbow.

Now, fishing is allowed, although it%26#39;s catch and release.

If legit, then yes, Capitol Tackle is the place to go for fishing supplies...can%26#39;t help with hunting though!

If you have the time.????

This place is not in manhattan it is 55 miles away from the city, and if you are really into these sports I would suggest you give this place a try.. The metro north train station. is right across the street from Gander mountain. it would be the middletown stop.

Gander mountain is the best place. You will love this place, it is huge!

Chrystal Run plaza 100 N Galleria drive middletown n.y. Phone #-845-692-5600.
