Tolls - JFK - Boston

I%26#39;m flying into JFK next Monday and driving to Boston. I just looked up the route on Google Earth and a lot of the roads seem to be toll roads.

Does anyone have any idea how much the tolls will be on this trip? can you buy a pre-paid card\tag so you don%26#39;t have to use coins etc.?

Tolls - JFK - Boston

Tolls in the US are much less expensive than in Europe. The tolls you will run into between JFK and Boston are the initial toll for whichever bridge you decide to take leaving NYC (e.g. Triboro, Whiteston etc.) - less than $10 on both accounts - and then I think there%26#39;s a small toll when leaving NYC on Interstate 95 (maybe $2-4). If you follow Interstate 95 to Interstate 91 to Interstate 84 (a common route) you will not encounter tolls until your reach Interstate 90 (also known as the Massachusetts Turnpike). The toll from there into Boston can%26#39;t be more than a few dollars. There are special lanes on the bridges in NYC and on the Mass Turnpike (Fast Lane and EZ Pass) but you need to have a transponder linked to a US bank account to use these - they will be of no use to you. We do not have prepaid cards for tolls so I%26#39;m afraid you will have to use cash.

Enjoy your trip!
