hopstop.com is a great website that calculates distance, gives you options for walking/subway/bus or combination and directions. Walking the bridge roundtrip is too much.

There%26#39;s a free shuttle downtown that might help them get from Battery Park to the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge.

That website also has other good info.

It is a little less than 1 mile from Battery Park to the Brooklyn Bridge.

The bridge is a little more than 1 mile long so the walk is just about two miles going one way.

If walking all the way across the Brooklyn Bridge, most people prefer the walk TO Manhattan rather than the walk FROM Manhattan -- you need not keep turning around to look at it!

Takeing the 2+ mile walk across AND back does not strike me as a good idea.

Thanks

lol, looks like just looking at it from south st seaport would be a better idea, they should have a nice view of it from there.

thanks

What people do is take the subway or the nywatertaxi.com over to the Brooklyn side (perhaps have some pizza at Grimaldi%26#39;s) and walk back toward Manhattan for views of the skyline. Here are 2 links you might find helpful

HOW TO GET TO THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE? Directions to the Brooklyn Bridge, Grimaldi%26#39;s Pizza and the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory at the Ferry Landing: Bring cash, an empty stomach, a camera and a good pair of shoes.

THE WATERFRONT: water taxis, cruises, the Statue of Liberty and the Staten Island Ferry: We are a city of islands.

They can be found on the FAQ which is here. YOu really should read through it for answers to most of your questions.

Personally I think walking the BB is a must do.

Don%26#39;t just look at it, walk it.

I totally agree with NYCgirl and, if you can do it at sunset, you will have an experience that rivals any in the city.

thanks nywhiz.

oh sunset..that sounds nice.

I%26#39;ll see what they wanna do..

next time i go, i%26#39;d like to walk it, or part of it, it looks like a beautiful bridge...and what a story that bridge has!
