The only decent hotel I know of on the LES is the Hotel on Rivington and it may not fit your budget.

There%26#39;s a Holiday Inn Express on the LES, but it gets pretty bad reviews.

Second Home on Second is considered East Village as is East Village Bed and Coffee, but both are well reviewed here.

It%26#39;s my first trip to NY and I%26#39;m considering staying in the LES as friend%26#39;s have recommended the area. I%26#39;m looking for a decent hotel (bedbug free that we won%26#39;t get our stuff stolen from) that won%26#39;t break the bank.

My husband and I are staying for 5 nights Friend%26#39;s keep saying that the St. Marks Hotel (on Saint Marks Pl) is a good bet at about $120 a night and it has decent reviews on here.

Other than site seeing, we will be going to a car show in Brooklyn (Williamsburg). We%26#39;ll be staying at the end of August, and are a young couple on a tight budget. Sorry for all the rambling...my questions are:

1.) Can you recommend any other ';cheap'; hotels in the LES?

2.) What other areas should I be considering?

Thanks in advance!!

The only other hotel that%26#39;s opened since that post is the Bowery and it%26#39;s hip, trendy and expensive.

The St. Marks reviews sound fine except the bit about no soundproofing. YOu should also look at the ';candid travelers photos'; and make sure that%26#39;s what you had in mind.

Look at the Cosmopolitan hotel in Tribeca as a decent budget option.

but you might want to consider bidding on Priceline for a 4* hotel in the downtown area. You could win the Millenium Hilton for under $200/night. Someone just won it for $150.night plus tax in mid August. Look on biddingfortravel.com or betterbidding.com

Even if you had the Ritz-Carlton on St. Mark%26#39;s Place, you%26#39;d still be on St. Mark%26#39;s Place - our little slice of skater punk heaven, with a heavy dose of Starbucks, Chipotle and other chains. I love St. Mark%26#39;s Place, but I wouldn%26#39;t want to sleep there.
