New York In Jan 08 Questions

I am going to New York in January for about 2 days. I have already made a reservation at Radio City Apartment 2 nights at 290.00 including tax.--No bad right?--

I have been to NY before. I went in Oct 06. Problem is... I have no idea what to do in Jan. I want to go and see Wicked,The Met, the Empire State Building (again), and WTC if possible.

I want to see the Statue of Liberty but I am not sure if you can visit in the dead of winter. I would love to see Ellis Island but is it worth it when its about 20 degrees outside?

I don%26#39;t really have a price limit but I want to have fun.

Any help would be great.

You can do all of the above in January - Ellis Island is indoors, books the tour for the inside of SOL, and you will be set.

Get your Wicked ticket now, if possible, the Met is closed on Mondays, just keep this in mind, and I recommend Top of the Rock, being you have already visited ESB.

Just bring warm clothing and use layers, because it may be cold outdoors but it can be warm indoors.

Agree that all the things you want to do are doable in Jan. but I%26#39;m not sure you can do them all in just 2 days. The trip to Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty takes about 4-6 hrs. with security and ferries. That uses the better part of a day. You can spend an entire day or more at the Met, but it%26#39;s open late on Fri and Sat. so that%26#39;s possible too. Just plan carefully. The WTC site is under construction so visit St. Paul%26#39;s cathedral across the way. Do that on the way to/from the SOL.

The top of the Empire STate building will be very cold and windy. If you%26#39;ve already been there, what about going to Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center?

Book your Wicked tickets NOW!

Thanks for the info. I am going to get the Wicked tickets in about 2 weeks when I get paid *hehe* . I didn%26#39;t know the Met would take that long to see. And thank for the info on it being closed on Tuesday. I went to the MoMA and it took about 4 hrs flat. But we were also in a rush.

The person I am going with hasn%26#39;t been to the Empire State Building so we kinda have to go. But you are right I don%26#39;t think that we are going to be there very long because of the wind (and snow).

The one big advantage of going in January is that there will be far fewer tourists around and thererfore shorter lines. That being said, our experience of the SOL/Ellis Island visit was that it is best to plan to get the first ferry across in the morning leaving you the afternoon to investigate the Financial District and Ground Zero (as Whiz says, do not miss St Paul%26#39;s Chapel). If you can then get to the ESB before twilight you will see the magical spectacle of the city changing from day to night mode. Yes, it will be cold but we were up there for 2 hours in February %26#39;05 - I%26#39;m sure your friend will love it (don%26#39;t forget, you can step indoors to warm up for a few minutes before venturing back out onto the observation deck).
