best view of the Chrysler building

I am going to NYC in October and, like many, I am fascinated by this building. I%26#39;d like to find the best place to contemplate it. If it is a cafe or restaurant it is even better.

Stand at the corner of Bryant Park, on the SE corner of 6th Ave. and 42nd St., at dusk. You%26#39;ll see the lights come up on both the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building.

The best observatory view is from the Empire State Bldg. Unfortunately the hideous Pan Am (MetLife) Bldg. blocks most of the view from the Top of the Rock.

There%26#39;s a rooftop bar at the Shelburne Murray Hill hotel that has a nice view of the top of the Chrysler (and the Empire State) but don%26#39;t know if it will still be open in Oct. It%26#39;s open air and closes when it gets cooler.

I will keep an eye on the Rare View Rooftop Garden and check if it is still open when I am in NYC.

As it will be my first stay in NYC, I would surely like to go to the Empire state as well, but I have seen mixed reviews on this.

Do you have any advice for having a good time there ?

A good time at the Empire State? Well buying tickets in advance is one good idea. Or, if you don%26#39;t mind spending $45/person, you can buy a VIP pass at the door that will get you up quickly.

Don%26#39;t buy advance tix if you want the VIP fast pass. That can only be purchased at the door.

The inside of the Chrysler building is beautiful, too. It%26#39;s worth a stroll in to see all the Deco period building details.

Didn%26#39;t know it was allowed to enter the building ! will definitely put it on my todo list.
