TKTS question

3 weeks to go til my first solo trip and I thought I had my itinerary down to a tee. I had already convinced myself that I had no time for a show............as much as I love the theater, I%26#39;ve NEVER seen a show on Broadway, just the touring shows. Anyway, I just decided I might like to try and check out the TKTS booth. It would have to be a Monday night show for me b/c my next night is already booked...........Michael Buble!

Here%26#39;s my question.............What is the likelihood of my scoring a ticket to Ave Q or Phantom if I arrive around 6pm? I was reading some solo travelers%26#39; reports and someone mentioned that she was able to get tix around this time as she just needed one ticket.

I really wanted to see The Color Purple or Spamalot but it appears they are dark on Mondays, is this right? Thanks for the help, all you experts!

TKTS question

Two years ago when my daughter and I were seeing ';Spelling Bee';, a very nice young man sat down next to us and said he had just gone by and gotten the ticket at TKTS (we waited a looooong time) but because he only needed one ticket it was easier.......so.....you go girl!!

It is hard to say what will be avaiable but stop by, check it out, and decide then.

TKTS question

If I%26#39;m doing the math correctly, you are looking for one seat for the night of July 30. I just went to BROADWAYBOX.COM and clicked on THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA near the bottom of the list in the left column (do NOT scroll down). NOTE: the shows are in alphabetical order and ';PHANTOM'; is under ';T'; since the first word of the title is ';THE';

Click on the PHANTOM link.

On the next screen, In the center near the bottom, you%26#39;ll see the words:

RECENTLY EXPIRED DISCOUNT OFFERS

Below that is a link in blue that says:

VIEW AND BUY DISCOUNTED TICKETS ONLINE

Click on it.

This will take you the BROADWAYOFFERS.COM website which is really just the TELECHARGE website. Follow the instructions to search for a single seat on July 30.

A few minutes ago, I located seat L6 for this performance (12 rows from the stage, 3 seats from the aisle). The standard price for this seat is $111.50. Broadwayoffers.com%26#39;s price was $61.50 (+$9 in fees).

It would be unlikely that you could match this at the TKTS booth.

I did not try AVENUE Q.

Good luck!

I%26#39;d def try the TKTS booth downtown at the South Street Seaport (behind Abercrombie.)

They open at 11 AM (earlier than the Times Square booth) and have shorter lines.

I agree, from experience it is much easier to get a single ticket good seat at TKTS than for two or more.

Both Phantom and Avenue Q are often at the TKTS booths. In fact, I see they were offered last week:

www.tdf.org/TDF_SupportPage.aspx?id=51%26do=v

I print out seating charts for the shows I want to see, then bring them all to the booth with me. (Yes, I%26#39;m a total cheap B%26#39;way dork on a mission.) TAKE YOUR TIME at the TKTS window when buying the tix. I usually ask the cashier, ';got anything better';? They usually know, and will discuss seating with you (for five minutes or so.)

Hop, skip, jump and QB..........thanks so much to both of you. I%26#39;ll check out the website and if I don%26#39;t find what I need I%26#39;ll check out the booth. You both are the best! Have a good day.

The shows that have a Monday performance are: Avenue Q, Chicago, Phantom of the Opera, Rent and Spring Awakening. If you are interested in seeing Rent, that show has a discount on BroadwayBox that extends out that far, otherwise, you%26#39;ll have to do TKTS. The TKTS booth at South Street Seaport has shorter lines so if you want to reduce your wait in line, go there. And as others have said, getting a good single seat is likely to nab you a pretty good seat since there%26#39;s often single seats that go unsold closer to the stage since most people want to sit in pairs or more.

Most shows are dark on Mondays so there are fewer shows to chose from at the TKTS booth. Don%26#39;t know whether that makes is chancier. I think you could get ONE ticket to almost anything you want but whether you buy now or wait til you get to NYC .....not sure.
