Sol

Hi,

Just wondering what peoples opinions are about whether it is worth getting off the ferry at Liberty Island, or whether to go on the free ferry and just see it from a distance.

Thanks,

Kelly.

Personally I didn%26#39;t think it was worth the time you had to queue and the security lines.......others will say differently. It also depends how much time you have - the Staten Island Ferry is about an hour round trip if I recall correctly - it doesn%26#39;t get right up close to the SOL tho. If you go to the Island you are probably looking at at least 3 hours.....

If you want to go to Ellis Island Immigration museum, it%26#39;s on the same ferry that you take to go to the statue. Once you%26#39;ve stood in line for security etc. for that, you might as well go to the statue, but it%26#39;s MUCH better if you have a pass to go inside the statue (reserve in advance) to see the small museum.

If you don%26#39;t intend going to Ellis Island, then there are many other boat rides from the free Staten Island ferry to a number of different cruises that will take you past the SOL.

I%26#39;m with Lou on this one.

We don%26#39;t have any relations that came into Ellis and after reading the horrors stories of security and queues on TA we gve it a wide berth.

Instead we took the free Staten Island ferry across the river - OK you don%26#39;t get as close but we got some decent pictures of lady liberty and the whole trip took an hour there and back.
