We are planning a trip to New York in the Spring and we are so confused. Where to stay and what to see in 5 days. Any help for first timers?

I would also suggest checking out a new york pass for attractions. www.newyork pass.com.

If you like busy and right at you then Times square is nice - Like the casablaca Hotel or marriot Marquis.

If you want quiet more residential then, you may like the upper west side. Like the Lucerne

If you like different l I would suggest like- The washington square hotel or the holiday inn soho.

You may want to be close to all, then midtown would be your choice. like The Roger smith Hotel.

First we will need budget to help you find the right place to stay. Plus food budget. Then info on the kind of things that you want to see. Then we may be helpful.

You will love NYC! My advice to you is to get a good guidebook and read it cover to cover. Learn the layout of the city and study study study the subway map! Once you read the guidebook and have a good idea of what you want to do and see while there, this site is great for fine tuning your plans.

We just had our first trip to NYC last week and you know where I found almost all of my information??? Right here on this forum! I honestly believe that from reading everyone else%26#39;s experiences in NYC I was able to have a problem-free trip. Buying a NY tourist book is a good idea too (I did!) but the information you receive on this forum is first hand advice from people who have recently explored the city.

Hi, my husband and I stayed at the Waldorf Towers for our 20th wedding anniversary in May and were treated so well. You receive a lovely free breakfast after spending the most comfortable night sleep ever, ( I want to buy their beds). For bargins go to Century 21 and a lovely boat trip for free try the Stanten Island ferry. Times Square is really busy, not a place to take little ones I think. Central Park is great, but don%26#39;t bother with the horse carriage ride, to short and not the experience I was expecting - the bike carriages look much better!

Thanks to the many recommendations on TA we stayed in Radio citty apartments and found them to be a great base for exploring for the first time.
