Looking for a great italian restaurant in NYC

Hubby and I would love to go out for some great italian food in NYC. Any suggestions for a a fun non-stuffy restaurant. Willing to cab it anywhere for great food.

I recently discovered Three of Cups, on the lower east side. Amazing meatballs! Very laid-back place. I ate there on the early side, but it looks like it gets a lively crowd at peak times. Probably easier to walk in during the week than on a Saturday night.

Try Baronda on 70th %26amp; 71st. It is lively but not touristy.

NYC has great Italian restaurants representing every single region of Italy - look over this list - all highly recommended. If you really mean GREAT Italian food stay away from chains and Little italy.
