West Side Story

Recently watched the 1961 film, West Side Story. What a piece of work. Beautiful......

Anyway, in one scene....behind the Sharks and across the street is St. Matthew%26#39;s Rectory.

Is this something that%26#39;s still there today? Or was that a background on a backlot street in Hollywood?

I think I read somewhere long ago that some of West Side Story was filmed where Lincoln Center stands today? Is that right?

West Side Story

The opening scene and many of the street scenes where filmed on the west side in the 60s (streets) right before they tore it all down to build Lincoln Center. The fight scene toward the end was filmed under the West Side Highway which has since also been torn down.
