UES vs LES for bar hopping

Hi all. I am planning a girls night for my friend%26#39;s bachelorette party this weekend. We aren%26#39;t so into the cheesy bacheloretteish type of stuff more just into bar hopping. Most of us are around 27 or 28. Would you recommend the Upper East Side or Lower East Side for this (or somewhere else)? I think I will probably pick a bar for us to start at but then just play it by ear and check out a few other bars.

UES vs LES for bar hopping

UES is more upscale and trendy

LES is more grungy and more locals (and usually cheaper)

UES vs LES for bar hopping

East Village (LES) without a doubt. It%26#39;s nothing but Bar after Bar after Bar after Bar. Even if they%26#39;re all terrible that night (unlikely), by the time you hit 7 of them you will be too tanked to notice.

Then when 4:30 - 5:00 am arrives and you can no longer walk without assistance, you have a multitude of restaurants still open to scarf down some hangover prevention food.

Another vote for LES.

However, if you%26#39;re on the East Side, there are a whole mess o%26#39; bars on Third Ave in the 20s and 30s that are popular and easy to stumble to.

I also highly reco Fifth Avenue in Park Slope Brooklyn. A great bar hop.

I live on the UES and while there are some really good bars, there are also a lot that stink. I would vote for the LES

LES hands down, it%26#39;s not even close.

Ditto LES. But I would not go to Park Slope - especially for a Bachelor party. All the bars there are punkish and hipster.

Re LES - check this website for some addresses and #s:

Incomplete list (does not have ';Welcome to the Johnson%26#39;s'; - a 1970s suburban rec room themed bar), but a good start.

Re Park Slope bars: Granted I haven%26#39;t been there in a while, but I would not characterize places like Timboo%26#39;s or Jackie%26#39;s Fifth Amendment or the gay bars as ';punk'; or ';hipster.'; (although I know that O%26#39;Connor%26#39;s has attracted some hipster regulars for years.) Especially Timboo%26#39;s - the karaoke there used to be very ';bachelorette party.'; I also think the Barbes crowd is still good.

Definitely LES or East Village! I live in the East Village and there%26#39;s a TON of bars!

laydenredd - any specific recos? Even us locals love new recommendations.

There is a LES neighborhood map with rough notes and website links located here: http://www.lower-east-side.com/
