Transport from Weehawken to NYC

Will be arriving at the Weehawken Sheraton on a Friday for a long weekend visiting the city with the wife and 2 teenagers. Any expert recommendations on transportation between the hotel and the city?

We are driving and have the car as an option.

Not that I have stayed there, but the ferry station is very close. That would be less of a hassle and maybe even less expensive than driving

I have no idea where the hotel is, but there is frequent bus service from Weehawken to Port Authority bus station in NYC. It would be nicer to take the ferry, but there is definitely a bus. I used to have a friend who lived there. I think the main drag is called Boulevard East. If your hotel is near that there%26#39;s a bus.

Read this nyc.gov/html/鈥mperial.html

I think, but can%26#39;t exactly figure it out on their website, that fares are $5.75 one-way. Call and check.

It may pay to drive in and park when you multiply by 4 people.

Now that I read dhammer%26#39;s reply, I think I should have more specifically asked for an opinion on driving into the city. I believe the ferry total is $25/ trip (one way). Based on that, and a wife%26#39;s preference not to ride the bus, I%26#39;d prefer to drive and take a chance on parking in the city on the weekend. Any opinions on where to park?

Visiting TOTR, Central Park, Natural History Museum and a show at various times and in no specific order.

for info on lot locations, prices and to make a reservation.

I think you should park depending on where you%26#39;re going in Manhattan. Iconparking.com has a map. Figure out where you%26#39;re spending the most time on any given trip. Try to avoid rush hour. ;)

Nonothing, where are you getting the $25 fare info from? A ten-trip ticket on the ferry, according to the NY Waterways website,is $57.50. Not only might a ten-trip ticke be practical, but do you realize how much tolls and parking will cost? Let alone the aggravation...

The thing about the Weehawken Ferry is, besides the cost of the ferry itself you also pay to park there....$9 per day at Port Imperial.

ginger-candy,

If the fare is $6.00 one-way per person (rounded up for the math impared), and you are a group of 4, that%26#39;s $24. Now add the return and it%26#39;s $48 per day %26lt;eek%26gt;.

Even if the original poster pays $25 bucks at a lot (could be more, could be less), then add the tolls, and they still save a bundle.

FYI, there are many lots throughout the city that have earlybird specials. If they don%26#39;t park in midtown, you can park for 12 hours in many neighborhoods for $10-$15 a day.

If they%26#39;re visiting a museum uptown, they can park and walk, or park and take the subway. If they%26#39;re going to TOTR, or other midtown locations, they can still park uptown (and save money vs parking in midtown). They%26#39;re still going to have to take the subway while they%26#39;re galavanting around the city.

Nonothing (great name by the way), I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ve read up on the daily Metrocard right? :D

I%26#39;ve always wanted to start a thread that drummed up some controversy. Thank you all for the input.

Thanks for the Icon site referral mamiesgirl and whiz, I think that%26#39;s the ticket.

And, thank you, D, for the reminder on the Metro card.
