traveling with kids

We are planning a trip to the finger lakes/Rochester area in early August with 4 kids under the age of 7. We usually camp but want to stay in hotels this vacation. We love to do little hikes, walk and swim at the beach and of course the kids love playgrounds. Any suggestions on where to stay? Also, we need hotels with suites or ones that can handle 6 in a room. Thanks

How picky are you about your accomodations? Just asking because we stayed last summer at the Seneca Lodge which is right across the street from Watkins Glen State Park. We stayed in an A-frame that had 2 bedrooms and a kitchen but that probably wouldn%26#39;t work for you-the stairs to upstairs were extremely steep and probably not the best for little kids. However, they have a bunch of little cabins but they did have one next to the A-frames that looked like it might be big enough to accomodate you. I%26#39;m asking if you%26#39;re particular about where you stay because it%26#39;s not a fancy place. I think it%26#39;s been around since the 40%26#39;s but we felt the a-frame was well kept and clean. It was reasonable at $100/night especially considering we had the kitchen which cut down on eating out.

There is an inground pool on the grounds (that shows it%26#39;s age but was still fun) but we could walk across the street to the park and they have a HUGE, beautiful, Olympic sized pool. The grounds of the lodge are spacious-we would walk in the back at night and come face to face with deer. We also had a fire ring which was nice.

They also have motel rooms and not sure about the price but if the rooms are reasonably priced and they have adjoining rooms that may work also.

Not sure if this place is anything you%26#39;d be interested in but it might be worth checking out.
