Coming to NYC for the zillionth time with hubby. Looking to surprise him with a romantic but not too stuffy restaurant. We like seafood, italian and steak. Willing to take a cab anywhere. Any suggesions would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, it sounds like you might be up for something a little grittier, as in Manhattan 700-level course. Got it. Here%26#39;s some thoughts: dinner at a wonderful place, The Orchard on the lower east side. Romantic lighting, great design, savory food.
The Orchard, 162 Orchard Street
After dinner, it is wonderful to walk arm and arm in this neighborhood but since it is the LES, it is best to have some general after dinner destinations:
If you and #2 need pumpin music: Stay Nightclub http://www.stay-nyc.com/ or Sapphire Lounge http://www.sapphirenyc.com/
Both easy walks after dinner. Another easy walk:
Bawdy fun at the Slipper Room http://www.slipperroom.com/
An after cocktail while you are still feeling the NY vibe:
People Lounge 163 Allen Street http://www.peoplelounge.com/
Have fun!
P.S. The Osso Bucco at the Orchard . . . ahhhh
Afterthought: have you ever tried ';hookah';
There%26#39;s a kooky ';hookah lounge'; on Orchard St called Tuts that could be another choice for you after dinner. I%26#39;ll let your google skills take it from here. [ I have to say, yes, I have been here and sampled the fruit-flavored hookah menu and LMAO]
I highly recommend Giorgio%26#39;s of Gramercy. Great food, great service, good wines, should be much more expensive than it is - we just went there for the fifth time last month. We at late, and had lovely chat with staff. Tucked away on an unexciting street, your hubby will def be surprised!
