JFK taxis-- traffic and waits

I am scheduled to fly into JFK on Saturday on JetBlue. JetBlue%26#39;s webpage advises that road congestion around its and other terminals has created very long waits. (See http://www.jetblue.com/about/jfk/getthere.html.) I would take AirTrain, which I like, but I will have a LOT of luggage, and so must take a cab.

My question: Does anyone know how bad it really is? How long would you estimate I%26#39;d have to wait to get a cab? How bad is traffic from JFK?

Thanks!

JFK taxis-- traffic and waits

We flew into JFK last Wednesday and waited for a taxi maybe 3 minutes (we needed a minivan taxi). There were 3 other parties in line. The time was approx. 11:30 a.m.

I forgot to mention that we too flew JetBlue and were extremely pleased with the service and planes. There was a 19 plane backup the day we flew home (12:10 p.m) and that only took about 30 minutes. When the airline boasts about their added leg room, on-flight t.v.%26#39;s with 30 some odd channels and their #1 customer satisfaction rating....they%26#39;re not kidding! Also, we add NO traffic at all coming or going from the airport.

What time are you flying in at?

The flight is scheduled to land at 12:40pm.

Typically, if you fly into JFK around the hours of 11am to 3pm, I have never seen much of a taxi line. Late in the evenings (9pm) tend to have the long 30 minute taxi queues.

Traffic around the early afternoon should be ok by NYC standards, but there is constant roadwork going on so always expect some delays. Expect a 30-40 minute ride.

If you have lots of luggage and don%26#39;t fancy dragging it around for a cab, consider a car service which is typically not much more than a cab. There are several threads on the forum here so you can just do a search.

Thank you, everyone!
