Unique Ideas for 13 year olds in Manhattan

Looking for some ';different'; ideas for 13 years olds on first trip to the Big City. We intend to do the traditional stuff--Statue of Liberty, Museum of Natural History, Empire State Building, etc., but we were looking for other suggestions to supplement our itinerary.

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Ice cream at Serendipity III is always a hit. Also, a ';different'; show might work, something like Blue Man Group, for example.

Why not try a broadway show? There are several Disney shows and Grease is starting up again.

Free kayaking in the Hudson River?

Wicked is a popular show for teens but hard to get tickets. If you can%26#39;t get tickets but they%26#39;re interested, the ';beyond the emerald curtain'; tour of the theater might be fun or maybe a tour of Radio City or Lincoln Center.

Serendipity is very touristy, as is Dylan%26#39;s Candy Bar.

If they like candy and sweets, I highly reco Economy Cndy on the LES. Great for sweet tooths of all ages! The store is about 100 years old and has new brands as well as ';nostalgia'; brands of candy. Not to mention excellent prices on imported chocolate!

Plus, It%26#39;s near The Tenement Museum, which offers tours of old tenement apaprtments ';frozen in time'; just like it was when the families lived there, about 100 years ago. Very meaningful, explains history of early American immigration into NYC.

I took my two teens on The Beast speedboat ride. Both loved it (as did I)!!

Check the family travel section for NYC at tripadvisor.com/Travel-g60763-s401/New-York-鈥?/a> . If you%26#39;ll be here after summer is over you should esp check the schedule for the New Victory theater www.newvictory.org

I%26#39;d also suggest seeing Stomp as being not your regular musical http://www.stomponline.com/
