from the airport to Coney island

One of my most wonderful childhood memories is riding the roller coaster in Coney Island with my dad. I just got this wild notion to take my son there for the day - I am in DC area. The airfare from either airport isn%26#39;t bad. Can someone tell me which would be the better airport to get to CI via mass transport? I googled it and found something called the South Shore ferry that goes from JFK to CI. Is that doable?

I don%26#39;t know anything about the ferry but if you look at this subway map you%26#39;ll see JFK is really close to Coney Island.

I%26#39;d take a taxi. Obviously you can take a subway, but it will take a lot longer. Hopstop.com estimates the subway ride at 1 hr. 45 mins! In a taxi you%26#39;d be there in 40 mins. without traffic. Neither of the other airports make any sense. ;)

I%26#39;ve never heard of the ferry either. My suggestion is take a cab.

If you like baseball there is a minor league team that plays at CI

Gideon.

You may find it hard to get a cab to take you back to JFK from CI. Have you considered Amtrak from DC to NYC? From Penn Station, go one block east to the 34 St./Herald Sq. stop to catch the D train straight to CI. The D train is MUCH faster than the B train there.
