Haven%26#39;t tried either, sorry but you can%26#39;t go up the Statue at all anymore. You can go inside the base if you have a timed monument pass - I think you can only get these if you are going on the Circle Line Liberty/Ellis Island ferries.

We haven%26#39;t tried the City Tour but have done Gray Line hop on/off. There%26#39;s so much to see, and the top of the bus is the perfect place to be. The on/off feature is wonderful for exploring different neighborhoods along the way. Love it. Well worth the $, especially if you haven%26#39;t been to NYC before. Last time we were there we got to Battery Park for the Statue of Liberty / Ellis Island tour too late and didn%26#39;t realize reservations are the way to go. If you can book reservations in advance, suggest you do so. If not, get down there first thing in the morning. Website will give you the info you need. The Gray Line tour does let you off near the tour boat.
