Has everyone heard this in the news? The main reason was for missing a second sink in the icing area .They had violations due to a pre opening inspection by new owners and a few other details.
I know many really liked this place. I wonder if this is going to hurt them now. I do not want mouse droppings in my cupcakes. I think , as working in the industry this is not the first place for this to happen.I am not really surprised!
The bakery said it was also cited for a missing door handle, a missing light cover, and several mouse droppings and fruit flies by its garbage area. They plan to reopen as soon as they get the violations cleared up.
What is the forum%26#39;s opinion on this one?
Magnolia bakery shut down for violations
There%26#39;s a toxic spray which you can use on your floors and the areas around you garbage cans called ';mouse evaparorator.'; It simply penetrates the flesh and bones of mice and turns them into a fine dust over a period of eleven days. With rats, the process can often take up to twenty-one days.
My only worry about all of this in any bakery would be if they dropped any of the cupcakes onto the floor which had been treated with the spray. Although the spray would not evaporate to cupcake, it would leave a toxic residue on it which could cause you serious health problems if you ingest it.
There are press reports of a man from Hoboken who allegedly (and I put it no more strongly than that) died a long and painful death as a result of eating a contaminated cupcake in New Jersey. They New Jersey outfit had been using ';mouse evaporator'; on their floors.
Magnolia bakery shut down for violations
I did some baking for a living and, when the establishment was having their usual extermination, I would always get an allergic reaction to it. My hands and face use to blow up.
I never heard of that chemical you were explaining, very interesting!
I wonder how the SATC tours will cope?!
I don%26#39;t know about the locals, but I don%26#39;t think it will have a major long-term effect on the numbers of tourists that visit - it has made its way into a lot of guidebooks here in the UK and I suspect that by the time the guidebooks are being updated, it will already have reopened - most visitors will be none the wiser (apart from those of us that visit TA and the poor souls that make a cupcake pilgrimmage over the coming weeks)!
Hmm, I thought those sprinkles on my cupcakes tasted funny...
That spray sounds barbaric!
I noticed this on my way home yesterday, the SITC tour was walking around crushed, but I think they survived, Roumor has it that they will be reopened today or tommrow.
Ok, so what%26#39;s the next best choice(if this was the first) for baked goods?
Oh I love Magnolia Bakery!
I read on some of the reviews for the SATC tour that they don%26#39;t even use Magnolia Bakery cupcakes? Is that true?
Isn%26#39;t there a bakery on 2nd Ave which is very similar to Magnolia Bakerys cupcakes?
Eh...I never understood all the hype about Magnolia; I%26#39;m a Crumbs fan myself. (The photos dont do them justice)

I think because of the show S..... in the city that Magnolia got their boost. The TA stopped me form using the real word.
