Hotel in new York City for nine nights in August

Hi everyone, my daughter and I are planning to spend nine days in NYC in August. Ideally, we are looking for a hotel that is not only centrally located, but clean, safe, air conditioned, and hopefully has a little character.

This is our first trip to the Big Apple, and any advice and suggestions would be appreciated.

I see the Time hotel has some specials going on for the month of August selected dates.

Check out travel zoo. I did a cut and paste of my email.

Update (5:01pm ET, July 11): The following date is now sold-out at the $199 rate: July 28

With a third of summer already gone, there%26#39;s no better time to take advantage of the rare NYC hotel deals that are still available. For just $199 per night, you can stay at the 4-star Time Hotel, steps from all Manhattan has to offer, valid every day through Sept. 4.

At a savings of at least $50 off regular room rates, you also get a FREE upgrade to a Superior Queen guestroom, with your choice of red, yellow or blue furnishings.

King rooms (nearly 300 square feet) are only $20 more per night and are also available through Sept. 4.

Blackout Dates: July 16-21, 23-26, 30, 31; Aug. 1-4, 6-11, 13-16.

To book: Call The Time at 1-877-TIMENYC (1-877-846-3692) and mention code TZOO. Or, click here to book online. You must book by July 22.

What do you consider ';character';? Are you looking for something older and classic (ie the Warwick, Omni Berkshire, the Michelangelo) or something unusual (the Library) or something trendy (Bryant Park, Chambers)? What%26#39;s your budget?

Hello - not sure what budget range you%26#39;re looking in, but I would suggest taking a look at The London, here%26#39;s the website: http://www.thelondonnyc.com/

Pricing is in line with most NYC hotels at about $370 / night... however all the rooms are suites, they are much much larger than what one would generally find in this price range, and very high quality.

Apparently this hotel used to be the Righa Royal Hotel. But has recently been totally renovated into an %26#39;all-suite%26#39; hotel. Friends of mine stayed here recently and the room was beautiful, clean, stylish and VERY spacious, separate bedroom and sitting areas, door in between.. The bathroom was wonderful and sleek. For a 9 night stay the extra space would be ideal, and considering that the quality is so high (no compromise), a very good value.

P.S. regards The London... Location is very cental... near many sites.
