Subway?

How do I get from JFK to union square?

I know I need to take the airbus to howard beach. Do I then get the A train and change?

Many thanks in advance

Subway?

nikki02: Take the A and change at Fulton St. to the 4 or 5 northbound to Union Square. It%26#39;s a couple of stops away. Beware, the ride on the A from JFK is quite long. Bring something to read... I used to do this route a lot to meet friends at JFK - after awhile, I just told them to write down my address and to give it to a cab driver...

Subway?

It%26#39;s the AirTrain not the airbus (which is actually a plane). Do you know about hopstop.com?

I wouldn%26#39;t take the train in the first place as it would take too long. A cab is about $40 and there are shuttles that take you to manhattan for $25 (not sure of the site, Google it). But if you do decide to go this route, you would need to take the Airtrain to Jamaica, hop on the E express, transfer to the R on Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Ave and take that straight down to Union Sq-14th Str.

But like I said, with the cost of the Airtrain tickat and the metrocard, it%26#39;s just not worth it.

If you are going to Union Sq - and using AirTran/subway.

I%26#39;d suggest the following route - Take the AirTran to Jamaica station.

Board subway but take the J or Z towards Manhattan. Get off at B%26#39;way Junction. Go up the stairs, walking towards the back of the train, transfer to L train towards Manhattan/8 Ave.

Board the L and ride to 14th/Union Sq. stop.

Alternatives :

.E train towards Manhattan (via Jamaica) and get off at 3rd ave and take the #6 downtown to Union Sq/14th St.

.A train towards Manhattan (via Howard Beach) and get off on 14th St and take the L (towards Canarsie/Brooklyn) for two stops.

.A train also transfer with the L in Brooklyn (Broadway Junction) but it is a long escalator ride (2 minutes) and no elevators (if you have luggage).

one more opnion - Take a cab, flat rate is $45+tip+toll, max $60

if it is just one person and you want to save some money, Take the Airtrain to Jamaca Station and then the E train heading towrds Manhattan to 14th Street, at 14th street and 8th ave transfer to the L train for 2 stops to Union Square. cost is $7 ($5 for the aritrain, $2 for the subway ride - the transfer is free at 14th street), All of the stations you will use this way have elevators (hope that they are working). Transfer is easy at 14th street, and I think that it will be the quickest way as well.

I live in the East Village, not too far from Union Square, and when I have to go to LaGuardia or JFK, I take the Airport Express Bus to Grand Central ($12 or $15 depending on which airport) and then take a cab (around $10) from Grand Central home. It%26#39;s much easier and faster than dealing with the Air Train and subway, and much cheaper than a cab from the airport. The bus can be picked up at any terminal and you buy tickets right before you get on. I think if you google JFK airport and look at ground transportation, you%26#39;ll see information for the bus.
